Are you a designer, photographer, illustrator, videographer, or maybe an animator? Sending files to a client used to be a big problem due to the really large files that would exceed your email’s file size sending limit. Back then, it is common to burn your files in either a cd or a dvd and drop it off to your client’s office or even snail mail it if the place is too far. The internet continues to innovate, and these days it is fairly easy to send large files anywhere in the globe. No need to pay for expensive services to mail those cds and dvds. There are a number of sites offering services where you can send files as big as 1 gb.
The internet continues to innovate, and these days it is fairly easy to send large files anywhere in the globe. No need to pay for expensive services to mail those cds and dvds. There are a number of sites offering services where you can send files as big as 1 gb.

Professionals from the design industry though, prefer a couple of file sharing tools, which are pretty easy to use and they could function too as a storage to backup your important files. Some would require you to register though, but it should be easy and breezy to do so.

One of the most popular file sharing tools these days is Dropbox. I personally love using Dropbox for backup purposes and of course for sharing files. This requires you to register and install an application that would allow you to have a Dropbox folder on your computer. This folder is synced to your account. Now uploading files is made so much easier by allowing you to save your files on that folder, and with an internet connection, the files will be automatically uploaded to your Dropbox account. Another great thing about Dropbox is your file will remain in your account for as long as you want to keep it. Other file sharing services won’t keep your file forever, unless you go for the paid account. A free Dropbox account will give you 2gb of storage. You can upgrade to pro accounts if you need a bigger storage limit.

Another popular file sending tool is WeTransfer. This one does not require you to register. All you have to do is to go to their website, select the file/s you want to send, type in the receiver’s email address and your email address, add a personal message (optional), then click transfer. You can send as much as 2gb worth of files and this would be kept in the WeTransfer servers for 2 weeks. You may also send it to as much as 20 people.

At TransferBigFiles, you have an option to register or not. Registered users will have more benefits as opposed to non-registered ones. There are also paid services where you get more benefits and options when sending a file. Using the service for free, you may send files up to 1gb and the file/s would be kept for up to 5 days only. File size per transfer is limited to 100mb and each file can only be downloaded 20 times. Sending a file is almost the same with WeTransfer, all you have to do is select your file, add the recipient’s email address, then send.
